Thanks for the article on how to get rid of flying ants. I've personally never encountered them within my home, but I know people suffer greatly because of them.

We just discovered these flying ants in our house a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the tips. My husband is working on finding the nests right now and thinks he has a good chance at getting rid of them. They are creepy!

I have only seen them coming from one place our foyer window. There was water leaking in, and we are trying to dry the wood out before putting the trim back on. But I saw one upstairs, and two by the back door. Do you think there are multiple nests????

I found winged ants in my sun room, sprayed them with poison. Later I noticed dozens of wings on top of the soil on my houseplants. Does anyone think they shed wings and nested in my plants??? What do I do??

I have been seeing flying ants for 2 days now, but can't find where they are coming in from.....There is no sign of them near windows or doors....they seem to suddenly appear out of nowhere......they have been in the bathroom crawling on the floor or dropping down from I don't know where, and same thing in the kitchen and living room....

Yes I get them too as soon as I swap them thier wings fall off they do bite...and yes they are creepy because I don't know where they are coming from...thank you for the tips...going to buy peppermint tomorrow. ...ewww now I'm itchy.

Thanks for the article, but i'm afraid that the poison will not work. Are they addicted to sugar? I know where they are coming from... but do you think I should be calling an exterminator?

@ Emma : I got flying ants in my windows this year….never seen them before but sign of ant infestation. Go to hardware store or Walmart and get Terro ant bait traps on inside wherever you see activity and The Terro powder around the outside especially where you see nests, lots of activity and this will usually be close to where you see them on the outside. Terro also has outdoor bait traps that are very handy but the powder seemed to take affect fast. Follow directions, pretty simple. At first they will increase but go straight to the traps. It took me a little over 2 weeks to see them start to diminish. Read when it tells you to replace traps, etc. It's been over 3 weeks now and they have really diminished so thinking they are going….they carry this stuff back to the nests if it doesn't kill them directly. They are really bad this year around where I live, lots of people having a problem. Good luck….they are little pests….and multiply!
