It is never a good sign to have flying ants in your house especially during the winter months. However, many things can get rid of them, like using sugar and borax.

I covered a lamp in Raid and left it on while all the other lights were out. They covered it and died. It worked. I probably looked like a lunatic, but it worked.

Anni Ok, we get them once a year around this time and they stay for several weeks. The weird thing is they come out in hundreds only at night, after ten PM to be exact. It sucks cause have to stay up late to vacuum them up, last night it was 3 different times and we were up till 1am, it's a combination of flying ants and the small sugar ants. I will try the peppermint solution, but I was wondering if vinegar would help too, any thoughts???

Please help. We have a large queen ant/flying ant infestation in our squirting boards and cavities at home. We have ant bait traps and have sprayed the powder everywhere. They are coming out in the hundreds each day

We used 1 cup of warm water, 1/3 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon of borax. Mix it up and soak a cotton ball in the mixture. Place the cotton ball on a piece of wax paper near wear the ant are. Once they find the sugar borax water the can't get enough of it. And the bring it back to the colony. This is the only thing that I have seen truly work.

Diatomaceous earth! Non toxic to humans and pets ( can irritate if inhaled..like most powders..but won't kill you or your pets) cheap, found in garden centres or hardware stores..is in powder form so you can blow it into holes. I suddenly had a bunch I'm my bath tub ( pouring outta a hole underneath the spout..GROSS) and a bunch along base boards..and out side along walls. I have a dog and a pet rat ( she has a cage..but I let her run around freely when she wants to stay active and healthy) and so I needed something safe to use for them. But effective enought to nit waste my time. It works so well .immediately they leave the area..the ones that get covered die off..and it kills anything with an EXOSKELETON. It cuts them like glass inside. Works for many other crawlers/ fliers too..anything with an exoskeleton. Bed bugs..cockroaches...highly recommended.

I found out mine were coming from a small slit above the baseboard that runs below the kitchen sink. The slit was just below the cabinet. Probably finding an entry from outside.
