Never put frozen chicken directly into a crockpot pot. Always thaw first. -per USA recommendations. Placing frozen chicken in a crockpot pot will allow it to sit between 40 to -140 degrees for an extended duration of time, long enough to grow bacteria. This is a major risk for children, the elder and pregnant woman.

I totallt agree with Heather. Definitely, not safe to cook frozen chicken at such a lw temperature for a long time. These recipes sound awful.

As long as you bring the temperature up to 165 and maintain it until serving, it is fine to use frozen chicken breast. Bacteria start dying off at 145 degrees, that same bacteria is on the chicken wether you put it in frozen or not, the key to not making people sick is heating to and maintaining the correct temperature until serving.

I've used frozen chicken for over 13 years. I will buy family packs and section it out to meal portions. I've raised 7 children on frozen chicken to crockpot and/or oven with zero food born illnesses. I came here to get an idea how long the chicken will take to cook on high. I haven't been able to use a crockpot for 2 years, so a little squeaky on the restart ???? What made me kickstart cracking again?! Walmart had a GIANT bag of frozen chicken breast (about 16 in the bag) for UBER CHEAP!! And I grabbed it. Haha! Now it's 10 am and I'm trying to fast cook it so hopefully I can send hubby to work with a yummy home cooked BBQ chicken n baked tater meal. Happy cooking Ladies and Gentlemen!!

For the first recipe can I cook at high for 4 hours?

The low temperature on a crock pot will heat chicken to about 190 degrees in approximately 7 hours so if you are cooking on low, you must cook for the full 8 hours. I usually cook on high for 4 hours and low for 2 hours. I have done this for the last 18 years, frozen boneless chicken breasts included and have never had a problem. I do not suggest cooking frozen chicken parts with the bone in ... in the crock pot. I usually thaw and boil for a few minutes beforehand.

Made this for dinner with the stuffing on top. It was delicious. Ill let you know if we lose anyone to food poisoning but i dont think so.
