I've just had a stage 4 hemoroidectomy surgery done about 10 days ago. Oh man let me tell u a story about my experience before and after surgery. As you know internal stage 4 hem is the most painful hemorrhoid there is. It's the size of a lemon sticking out your ass and u can't walk or sit, the pain is unbearable..I had to do an emergency surgery since it's so painful. After surgery I was relief and thought it was all good. But the pain doesn't stop there. About 2 days after sugery I had a bm, it was unbearable pain to push, the pain is so bad that it overides the bm and I had to push for 15min. Finally it came out and I was relief for the moment. Ok about 5 days since my first bm, I couldn't have a bm after that. My poop was stuck or clogged up. I took stool softener, hi fiber drink, laxatives, nada nothing came out while sitting on toilet n pushing for 20mins. I thought I was gonna pass out n die trying to take a shit. I was sweating like crazy no more energy to push, I prayed to God for two days, day 7, my wife called Dr. And they recommend using miralax, so I took it, it helped me have the urge to go n push. So every 5 min I have the urge to go, I swear I had water in the bathroom so i can hydrate myself cause I sweat like crazy. After pushing for half hr I swear I had the biggest dump in the world Guinness book of record, it's massive like a full grown cow shit, 7days worth of food finally pass through and I was so happy. Now i have normal bm and no pain. Story of my life. Good luck to all that gone thru this. It's not as bad as you might think when all is over.

I just had my surgery 5 days ago and still in pain. The oxycodone doesn't help. It makes me more constipated. I've had 3 bowel movements since then and it's a killer. I feel like passing out. The ice pack helps a little. Taking a warm sitz after a bowel movement makes me feel like fainting. Today I tried a cold sitz and it helps a little. Peeing is not easy either for a girl. I discovered a new way. I stand over the toliet and tried peeing standing up and it helps. For everyone that's recovering may you all feel better soon. I'm still wondering when will the pain ease up. ????

I am 7 days in recovery from class 3 internal and external removal while also having a lapascopic vaginal hysterectomy at the age of 32. I am currently sitting in sitz bath literally trying to have a bowl movement right where I sit, and I am not having any luck at all. I have been doing stool softener, metamucil, Prune's, staying hydrated, and etc... Am I mentally psyching myself up and can't physically go? I am not sure, but I really wish I could have a BM.

Hi everyone, I had the surgery to remove my internal 5 days ago. Still in pain especially after bm. My bm was never bad. I stopped OxyContin the third day so never got constipated. But when I looked at the mirror I noticed there was a swollen piece right out of my anus. Is this the normal looking of the wound. I didn't get any information about the operation when I was discharged and may not get it until my follow up? Anyone had the same swelled looking piece after the surgery?

Good luck everyone. I am four days post op, Hemorrhoidectomy multiple stage 4 Thrombosed. I don't know if they started internal but they quickly went external. Background...I just had a disc replacement and fusion in my neck two days prior. No softeners, just constant narcotics from the surgery and two days after. My first BM after that surgery put me back in the hospital for the Hemorrhoids. Just had 2nd BM. The first one was yesterday. I passed out from the pain and exhaustion. Sitz baths help. Wet wipes help. It's hard to clean since I can't use my arms and bend. I suggest using a flex shower head. It is said to keep the area dry and clean but that is hell. I am waking up with dried blood and other things gluing my cheeks together. I suggest folding a sanitary wet wipe and filling the crack. You are gonna thank me. It will fall right off in the bath and assure you that there is no further irritation. I an still pooping a lot of blood but doc says it is normal. My wounds are closed with stitches and they are still clean looking. Blood is coming from where the packing was removed. Diet...Perfect time to start right? I drink over 64oz a day minimum. Oatmeal with a spoonful of metamucil for breakfast along with meds. Salad for lunch, stay away from spicy, well balanced dinner, chicken breast, salad, mixed veg. Fruits and vegetables for snacks. Remember, water with everything. Apple sauce is a great beginning to taking meds also. Remember that stool softeners are required with 8 oz water or juice. I hope this helps someone. I hate taking meds, especially Narcotics. Please get feeling better.

I'm 5 days into recovery, doctor said i had one of the worse cases of hemorrhoids he's seen in over 5 years. I had internal and external , I'm taking pain meds stool softners and with every bowel movement i feel like I'm dying the pain is unbelievable it also bleeds but not a whole a lot , the doctor said its normal but the only time I have relief is when I'm in the very hot tub which is where I spend almost every day all day. This is the worse pain I've ever experience in my life ... Good luck to everyone

Its now day 12 since my surgery. The first week is absolute hell in terms of the pain. I could not get comfortable. Someone else made a good point, youll want to be by yourself in bed. Every movement from yourself or your significant other is torture. Take metamucel and mirelax for pooping. Expect a lot of pain. Even at day 12 my day is ruined after i bm. It takes about 4hours for the pain to become bearable after i bm, even with pain meds. My only relief comes from prayer, percocet, and lots of warm baths. I hope week 3 is better than week 2. Good luck fellow warriors.

Hi all, just had my surgery done to remove 3.stage 4 external. In all honesty, thank you all very much for sharing your individual stories. Surgery was done 4 days ago.bm,originally a joy has officially become the most dreadful event ever.pain is excruciating, till extent of tearing. Prescribed pain killers, but it only works to a certain extent . Advised to wear panty liners whilst out but the embarassment is pretty much unbearable.bm,yet unable to totally clean is rather grotesque. Adding on,now there's a rash on both sides of the butt cheeks, amounting from abrasion perhaps or unclean from pus ,blood and waste? I wish all of you speedy recovery, fear of bm removed, and as for those going for this procedure, lots of good luck and high threshold for PAIN.

I had a hemorrhoidectomy 5 days ago. I am a strong, athletic 31 year old woman with a high pain tolerance, and I can honestly say that the recovery is extremely painful. Dr. Was great during the procedure and the first day was honestly quite easy- uncomfortable but bearable. Day 2 I had 2 bowel movements, and have had 2-3 every day since then. I have eaten very little since I am so scared of the bm's, but I have had some kale, fruit and yogurt smoothies. Bm's have been small and soft, tho I wish less frequent. I completely underestimated the pain involved in this- so my recommendation is to do more research before having the procedure, I thought I would be feeling fine within 5 days, not struggling to even fold laundry. Warm sitz baths and ibeauprofeben and I've for pain - I have hydrocodone but did not take after first day for fear of constipation. I hope things get better soon and that this procedure proves worth the pain. Will provide an update when I am better to let people know how long it took to heal, as I wish I knew that right now!
