Hi guys! I read most of the comments here. I just have operation for my hemorrhoid(internal),anal fissures, and rectal polyp. I confined myself Sept 8 and do the operation Sept 9 Here in Dubai at international modern hospital. The operation went well. I had general anesthesia. More than 3hrs I'm in the recovery area. Now, I leaved the hospital and went home. I had so much medicine to take. I have Hetlox 500, brufen 600, genpol 40mg, arcoxia 60mg, duphalac, and betadine solution for my hot seats. I'm still in pain, but bearable now. My only concern now is I have so much gasses in my stomach. When Im in the CR OMG, I always farting and I don't like that. Because it keeps me in pain. And my bowel movement now is not normal maybe because I'm still in Healing process. I'm hoping all these pain was gone. Specially this gasses.

Hello I am on day 4 after surgery and yes what the surgeon said is all true. Constant throbbing pain and feeling of helplessness. I have found a hot shower after bowel movements then a ice pack for 30 min really helps. Painkillers not really that effective unless I double dose....not smart but I feel I have no choice. I too have suffered with internal and external hemorroids for years. Tried banding twice but they came back very quickly. I find bed rest and lots of water are helping. Can't wait till this nightmare is behind me...

I knew that I have internal and there times that i would bleed every other month. However I learned my trigger foods that were making my hemorrhoids worse such us raw nuts, excess of processed sugar in my diet or cider. Once i cut them out from my diet I stopped bleeding and i was pain free during BM. However, as i was left with skin tag i still decided to remove it. I had my operation on 26th of August and i was physically feeling great after and surgeon also told me that apart from removing skin tag he has also removed internal hemorrhoid - great! I was given two types painkillers (ibuprofen and dihydrocodeine), antibiotics (metronidazole) and movicol liquid to drink twice a day. When i got home i was quite afraid to drink movicol at that stage as i didn't want to go tho the bathroom just yet. That was the biggest mistake. Once you leave hospital you need to start drinking as anesthesia makes feces hard. I had first BM around 4am the following morning and i was in extreme pain. I took hot shower to sooth the area and went for the strong painkillers. 1st week - I kept having painful BM twice a day that week but the shower and painkillers kept the pain in bay. During the first week somehow i managed to catch flu. 2nd week - I noticed that the incisions came apart, were sore and still i was getting a bit of blood in my discharge. I went to my GP same day. After examination he said, which was quite alarming, he didn't know what the surgeon has done. There were no stitches and instead of removing the skin tag the surgeon removed just half of it and managed to create another one! The GP sent me back home with another dose of antibiotics. Also I stopped taking painkillers at the beginning of that week. 3rd week - I, at last, felt like i started to heal! The discharge almost stopped, the BM were just a bit uncomfortable and the pain would disappear just after BM, i had more energy and gone back to work. 4th week - I had some blood during BM and the pain came back to the point where i had to take strong painkillers to control it. I thought i would be just one day but i was feeling pain the following day as well. I called my GP and i went to see him same morning. He again said that he wasn't sure what the surgeon has done, there was still discharge, the external skin tags were swollen as well as internal wall where the incision were. As i have hospital appointment in to weeks time my GP said that the appointment cannot be moved and he can't send me to hospital as this is not an emergency. I was sent away with two creams. One, which is Bactroban - an antibiotic, has been quite helpful and i need to apply on the skin tags and the area three times a day. Other cream that i was given is called Germoloids which is an oitment for piles. This i was told to apply twice a day till my hospital appointment. I used that cream twice and in both cases i experience pain so i stopped that.

Day 5. Had external hemorrhoids removed. Doing well and reducing the painkillers. Hot baths have been the greatest help.

Is there any quality of life after haemorrhoids??!! I had an external fissure & 3 internal haemorroids removed end of June. It's now October & I'm still in pain!! First 7weeks was complete agony & i ate as minimal as possible so I don't need to go to the toilet but had lots of fluids. I went back under as surgeon thought i may need draining of an abscess. My BM til this day are still quite painful. Ive done it all.. Sits baths, ice sticks, creams for pains. Digesics, nurofens to help with pains. I've never had so many drugs!! Is there anything, anyone else can suggest to heal this pain in my ass faster?! Thanks in advance ??????

Hey. Currently on day 6 of recovery. The pain is constant and niggly, can really feel it. It's more of an annoyance than anything else. Haven't had any issues with BM as yet, but notice a weakness in the muscles when urinating. Hoping this is gonna be a self fix in time. Still pretty bruised and swollen in the area, and there is still discharge. Hoping all is on track for a full quick recovery. I am looking forward to life without the hemeroids and without the pain.

Im 6 days post surgery. If I had read all the blogs beforehand i think I may have reconsidered! I had one internal/external removed and 2 internal ligated. I don't think my hemorrhoids were as bad as some on here but they were very painful/bloody at times. Recovery is slow, I'm surprised this is classed as minor surgery, my original consultant suggested I would only need a week off work, the thought that that would be tomorrow is ridiculous. Days 1 to 3 were awful, I had paracetamol ibuprofen dihydracodeine metronidazole latulose fibergel and some pads given to me. I took codeine to sleep for the first few nights but was conscious of its constipation effect so was reluctant and stopped asap. I've managed with 4 hourly para and brufen. I was able to pass urine all be it stop start at first, straight after being allowed out of bed. There was some swelling around the area so a little painful but bearable.Had my 1st bowel movement the morning after surgery, the pain was extreme, I only passed approx an inch of stool. 2nd day was the same, almost as if your brain stops the process because of the pain. By day 3 I was desperate to have a proper bm, extreme wind and stomach cramps making me dizzy nauseous and causing vomiting after eating. after trawling through blogs I found some people had used numbing cream. I bought some 5% EMLA and used it straight away, left on for 10 mins it numbed the anus enough to fool my body into thinking there would be no pain resulting in an enormous amount of fecal matter being passed and much relief. The burning internal pain was excruciating afterwards but soaking in hot water straight away sooths this after 30 mins or so back to bearable pain. The pain is easier each day, I'm drinking 3 ltrs of fluid plus prune juice daily and eating plenty of fibre, continuing with 2 20ml doses of lactulose to keep the stools soft, I am having 1 full bm each morning for which I make sure I've had brufen and para and emla, I have not cried/moaned or been left shaking and sick after bm since day 4. My anus is gradually changing, bruising fading and swelling reduced. I am no longer continually lightly bleeding, just a small amount of mucus. On the evening of day 5 my discomfort changed from constant pain to short but often stabbing nerve pain and itching. This means its healing. This is by far the most painful thing I have ever experienced, I would not recommend this surgery lightly but if you need it do it. Im glad I didn't know what to expect but also Dissapointed that the hospital were not more detailed with a recovery plan. My tips, drink lots, eat plenty of fibre, drink peppermint tea...lots of it for the stomach. stock up on painkillers, buy emla cream and epsom salts (I have been soaking my bottom in a bowl of hot mild epsom solution 3x daily) . Keep the area dry and clean. I have dispensed with pads and underwear as much as possible, letting as much air in as I can. I now feel there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

I just had an external hm removed by laser yesterday and I will say I'm glad I have not had the experience of other folks on here. So here I am to give some hope...as long as I take my pain med I have little to no pain. I'm not sitting..more laying around on my side but I plan to work tomorrow. Had my first bm today and wasn't too bad. It burns a bit now after my shower but it's pretty tolerable. Eat lots of watermelon and good luck all

I had my 2 inner 3 outers for 18 years got bad in the 18th year. Had surgery on Monday today is Thursday. Hell yes recovery hurts but I know the pain will eventually go away haven't had a BM yet legs are cramping feeling gassed up the painkiller is a joke. But I am looking for the future and me not feeling the burning of the hemmies are enough to make me bare these pains but the pain is in a sensitive area any movement affects the area. But I am glad I had it done. Spitz bath are ok a lot of discomfort but I'm looking forward to my brighter days.
