I have been suffering pain under my left rib that sometimes radiates to my back. I get it every few months. Nothing seems to really help. It's worrying me to death though. 5 months ago my doctor told me its IBS & GERD but would this pain be in one spot like this??

I did break rib 8 by doing NOTHING literally 4 months ago. While at the ATM machine, as I was pulling the card out my left side was leaning against the car door and there was a loud pop in my left side and I thought oh my god I broke that damn rib again. I'm visiting in Florida and delray the first hospital I saw a doctor that was absolutely horrible to me and basically told me it was in my head. Increasingly I'm having a hard time talking and taking in a deep breath. I went to a second hospital and there's no break but the pain is increasing and I can hardly take in a deep breath. I'm getting very scared

I have been having the same pain on my left side under my rib (mostly radiating through my back but sometimes in the front). I study Chinese medicine as a hobby and have learned that my spleen-pancreas is somewhat deficient. I normally live a healthy lifestyle, but ad ter a long holiday of overeating and drinking too much alcohol I developed this pain and a few red bumps that seemed to form a belt along my spleen-pancreas (started on my back and ended under my left breast). These bumps were hard and red, I thought they were like cystic pimples but they hurt and were very sore...after reading some of the comments on here, I am thinking the bumps were a very mild form of shingles. Anyway, I think that more people should turn to Chinese medicine and see an acupuncturist for a second opinion because I believe that a lot of our misdiagnosed digestive health issues have to do with our spleen-pancreas. The spleen-pancreas is very important, but western medicine doesn't seem to grasp it's concept like eastern medicine does. So please don't let doctors tell you it's all in your head...we are all very intuitive creatures and can sense when something is out of balance. Go see an acupuncturist and get a second opinion!

So I have been having this very sharp pain pretty much right where my heart is. When it happens, I can hardly breathe in or out, causing me to resort to quick, short breaths. It feels like something is poking me. It typically lasts from 30 seconds to 2 minutes and about 1-4 times a day. I am 14 and a freshman in high school. I don't know what it is but if anyone knows then please help me.

Last Sunday I experienced some pain on the left side of my chest right under my breast area and in the rib cage. The pain is a sharp shooting pain that radiates around my back to my left shoulder and between my shoulder blade area. The pain occurred on and off all afternoon. Monday morning I wake up with the pain so intense that I can't take a deep breath without experiencing sharp pain. Thought that I may be having a heart attack since my pain radiated around that area and my neck area was stiff. I went to the hospital emergency room where they ran (3) EKG's, heart ultrasound, heart stress test (treadmill), chest x-rays, numerous blood test and urinalysis. Heart was fine....no signs of any heart attack or episodes. Couldn't locate any real cause for my pain. They did give me a couple of pain relievers and injections which helped to ease the pain. Spent 8 hours in the hospital and they couldn't really tell me for sure what caused this. The doctor prescribed 600 mg of Motrin for the pain which I have taken on and off this past week. Didn't take the Motrin at all the last three days. Then today, Easter Sunday, wake up and went to turn over in bed and felt like a "pop" and again couldn't move, almost felt paralyzed with the sharp pain again and could hardly breathe. Had to lay motionless for nearly half hour. Finally took a Motrin and some water and tried not to move. Dozed on and off for an hour or so. Pain has subsided for the most part if I don't move a certain way. If I twist to the left or move too quickly I get a sharp pain again. Almost feels like a broken or cracked rib which I have had before but never pain this intense. I've had pulled muscles in the legs before but never anything like this! Could it just be a pulled muscle or rib cage strain...If so, I can't believe how uncomfortable and painful this is!! I don't have any fever, flu or cold symptoms.

Last summer I would be bed ridden for 3-5 days at a time. I would be extremely tired, high fever, with a horrible pain on what felt to be my kidney. The pain was on my left side just below my ribs going around to my back just on the left side. I would take some in profin and once I could feel the medicine I would break out in a sweety and become very hot. The pain would be bearable but never go away.I lost a lot of weight from loss of appetite, and would waste 3-5 days in bed not being able to move. It has almost been a year sense I have had any of these symptoms, 4-5 days ago it got me again and I'm just now feeling like I can get out of bed, the pain in my side and back hasn't gone away though.pretty worrying to me.

ive had this pain for a long time now, I have always wondered what it has been but never known. I have gone to the doctors where they couldn't find anything so they are sending me to the hospital for an xray and blood test. My pain is like someone is stabbing a knife under my ribs then I end up having to bend over holding my ribs to kill the pain. has anyone else had this type of pain?

Just got back from ER. Thought I had broken or cracked a rib. Dr did stays..mekg...blood work to rule out heart problems although I do have afib. No broken ribs. The pain is under over on my left breast and sometimes feel like movement. It is excruciating. ER Dr told me to call my pcp tomorrow. At least I'm not the only one who is experiencing this....I can honestly say....I feel your pain.
