Never put a damp hand into a oven mit and then use to get anything out of a hot oven. I got about a 1 inch burn doing this. Went right through the oven mit. Ouch.

Gently rubbing alcohol-free White Willow Bark liquid extract into burned skin (if the skin isn't broken) is also good for instant relief from mild burns. White Willow Bark contains salicin, a chemical similar to aspirin. Make sure it's rubbed into the skin completely for relief and to promote healing. I keep some in the kitchen to use in case of steam or other types of burns while cooking.

Put 3 aspirin in a Ziploc bag. Mash them fine with a hammer. Add a couple tbsp of ice water. put fingers in bag and turn/ fold bag as needed to make best contact with aspirin. spread asprin-filled corner of that bag over the mouth of a jar full of ice water. The ice water keeps temps cold without diluting the aspirin soak. 3 Ibuprofen also helped somewhat, I had to drive a few minutes ago, and couldnt hold my aspirin soak, but it's November and the cold air from my hand out the window felt pretty good too,
