Thanks for the article. I noted that every time I brush my teeths it make me feel like I need to vomit. Sometimes, like today, I felt that I have a soar throat and was difficult for me to breath. After I wake up I wash my mouth and I have the same feeling of wanting to vomit. I look into a mirror and I saw my uvula kind of big. I believe this happen to me when I need to breath only through my mouth because my nose are kind of close (I don't have the flu). I'm having a reaction to my toothpaste? What is the relation with the noses?

I got this a few years ago while surfing and camping off the grid in Costa-Rica. No idea how i got it. Felt like i was choking and swallowing my uvula, horrible experience. Hitched to a town and happened to find an ambulance that immediately gave me an epipen and some antibiotics free of charge.

One cause not mentioned is excessive snoring.. after a big night on the drink i regularly wake up with my uvula 3x the size and able to swollow it. Takes a day and then it is back to normal.

I recently had swelling in my nose and throat, including the uvula. I bought the least expensive nose drops whose main ingredients was tetrahydrozoline and the drops that ran down the back of my throat began taking the swelling down. So I squirted it directly into my throat, releaving the uvula swelling! It works so I can breath without that snoring sound and feeling for a few hours. Have not tried a long acting nasal decongestant, they can be pretty spendy.

I get a swollen uvula at least a few times a year, from snowboarding or excessive drinking, both are related to dehydration. It gets so bad that I can actually struggle to swallow and sometimes even breathe easily.

I am at the moment having a swollen and enlarged uvula which gives me so much concern; and I visited my doctor a couple of hours ago and got some anti-biotics. The uvula appears to be going down my throat as if I am already swallowing it. Reading about your comments helps me to calm down since I have not expereinced this before.

I just got it this morning and I have this irritation in my throat and found out that my uvula has grown. Good thing I have a tolerance in gagging as almost equivalent to no gag reflex. I think I got this reaction from using too much vinegar in my mung beans. It slipped my hands while putting a bit of vinegar but since I think it's a waste to throw it I it the mung beans with almost overflowing vinegar with it.

I am a newbie to this swollen Uvula as well. It first started after I had my son about 15 months ago. The doctors weren't sure what the issue was and gave me meds to numb it and eventually after a day or so it went away. The second time was after a night out drinking, same recovery time there and about 1 month ago I just woke up choking on it! I freaked out and went to the ER, they gave me some steroids and numb med. Then today I wake up with it swollen again!! I am going crazy! I am going to try the nose spray idea that I read in someones comments. I hope that works out!! The next step is to have it surgically shortened. Eak!
