I've not long got home from seeing my doctor and showed her my swollen Uvula, she seems to think it's due to the medication I'm on. naproxen, I've got to stop taking them if it goes great if not I'm going to be referred to a specialist. However I do wake up every morning with a dry throat. My GP sent me for a blood test so I will wait to hear if it's something else.

I get this when i get bad tonsilitis, as i no longer have tonsils its the glands that get swollen and infected, it does not go away by itself as someone suggested, the last time I had this my temp was 40c and i was admitted to hospital for 3days

This happened to me, once. I ended up in the hospital because it wouldn't stop growing and I couldn't eat or drink. Breathing was becoming difficult and talking just gave me the gags. They said they had no idea what it was and sent me home with I think steroids and an antibiotic once the swelling reduced until it seemed safe. Looking back, it could have been when I first contracted Epstein Barre or Lyme, or an anesthesiology injury at the time of my surgery.

I have had this on and off for 4 years now,I've been told it's where I snore, and my mouth is so dry,it vibrates in your throat when you sleep, and that's what causes it to swell, when it happens I feel like I've got a golf ball in my throat, normally takes about 5 hours to return to normal, sometimes I wake in the early hours, and I am to scared to go back to sleep incase it gets worse and I panic that it will stop me from breathing, I am currently under the ent clinic they are sending me to the sleep clinic about my snoring I've told ent I want it removed,so I can enjoy sleeping again

I got this 2 years ago. It felt like trying to swallow a jawbreaker that won't go down. It blocked my airway whenever I laid down, so I had to try to sleep sitting up. It went away within 24 hours.

I have had a swollen Uvula for about 4 years now. I went to the Dr about 6 months after it first happened.... I was, literally, smiled at and told I would be fine. Now, it is to this point.....I feel it laying on furthest part of my tongue, I feel like I'm swallowing it, I can't see my throat and pus and mucus is constantly draining from it. I've called the DR....nothing. Any help out there??

Whenever I get a cold my uvula swells up for about a day or two. It is the most annoying thing in the world.

I get this whenever I walk in strong wind. I've found I need to put a scarf over my mouth. Then it doesn't happen. I was once at my Doctor's complaining of a sore throat. He said it looked fine. I said why does it hurt so much. He gave me a mirror and showed me the swelling. He took an atomizer used for asthma and sprayed it on the swelling. Handed me the mirror and showed me how much smaller it was. (Not inhaling in lungs, just sprayed on the uvular.) I am a mouth breather, which adds to the problem. Snoring can do it too.
