Having a tampon stuck can be very worrying, but in most cases, the lost tampon can be carefully removed with your fingers at home. Here are steps you can follow.

So, my issue is that I used a tampon today about 6 or 7 hours ago so I could go do laps in the pool. Tonight, I tried to remove it and I can't get it. The string is gone, but I had that happen before and just bore down like having a baby..or a BM. This worked in the past. Not today. I put a finger inside to see if I can reach it, but for some reason, I am super swollen inside. When I bear down with my finger inside, I can feel the tampon slide down beside my finger, but it is behind flesh! I have never had this happen before. I have tried to find a way around the swollen flesh that it is behind, but I can't find a way into it. Kinda of worrisome. I am assuming the tampon caused irritation which caused the intended vaginal swelling. It is so swollen, I had a difficult time inserting a finger...and I have had 3 children through vaginal births! I have no idea what to do. all I know is that there is no way I want to go to the doctor for this! I think I would rather die from the than die of embarrassment. Lol. Any suggestions on how to get the swelling down so I can remove this stupid thing?

I know it sounds terrible but this has happened to me twice! I would rather die than going to the doctor too. I have found that squirting a lot of water up there rinses it right out.

I just had this problem. Chicken and sticking with my fingers but it just going further away from me. I thought, my fingers are going to be long enough. I looked this up and what got the tampon out immediately was the pelvic pressure. Pushed hard, and It lowered down so low I could easily pinch it out....TMI.... but it works and less embarrassing than going to urgent care!

The first time I lost a tampon I had no idea... It was just smelly and itchy. What a huge relief after I got it out. I'm just getting over my period and that I recall, I haven't lost one this time...but I recognize the smell...I've gently dig around but can't find anything. I'm just worried. Plus, will I still bleed a little If there is a tampon lost up there?
