Do NOT "douche once a day every day during your menstrual cycle" as suggested in this article. For a start, the menstrual cycle is not just the days you bleed; it is every day of your life from your first period to your last. Secondly, women should never douche; doing so removes the good bacteria that we need, allowing thrush to develop (a far worse odour than period blood).

The best home remedy is to wash vagina with plain natural yogurt before shower which balance the PH and kill excessive bad bacteria. it relieves from itchiness.

I totally agree with Amanda. I believe we shouldn't douche because our bodies naturally take care of themselves and once you start interfering you make things worse.

Douching is a really terrible idea. It promotes infection and odor by causing a PH imbalance. It's better to shower an extra time, as the primary odor that you smell is caused when fluids make contact with the air, on the outside of the vagina. Do not use wet toilet paper to clean up with. Wet toilet paper becomes clumpy and linty. You will often end up with blood and little, wet toilet paper wads stuck to your hand. You can use sensitive baby wipes that are fragrance free, or wet paper towels.

So I have had the most serious necrotic smelling periods for a few months now. Coupled with lower abdominal cramps and enough blood flood to instill fear of needing a blood transfusion. I went to the doc this week and was diagnosed with adenomyosis. Everything makes sense now and treatment is on the way! !!

My best friend is currently going through this. She's been dealing with it, however, for years. It has ruined relationships for her and even jobs. I feel so bad for her and I can't help her. UREAPLASMA not every dr does this test. It's misdiagnosed as BV. Ask your Gyno to check specific. Avelox and Azithromycin. It can cause long term effects so please anyone with chronic BV get checked.
