Moisturize Your Skin

Olive oil is not just good for the heart but it is also good for the skin. Olive oil has healthy fats like the avocado that can moisturize the skin. It also has vitamins A and E, which can also add moisture in the skin. So olive oil is a great moisturizer for the hands, feet and face or any area with dry skin.

Natural Oil

Most makeup like eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner and foundation contains oils and heavy waxes. And olive oil has a similar structure to the oils and waxes in makeup, so it can dissolve makeup. Olive oil is a kind of natural oil so you do not have to worry about any dyes, fragrance, thickeners, emulsifiers and other additives, which are found in commercial brands of makeup removers. Olive oil is comedogenic, which means it will not clog the pores.

Anti-Aging

Olive oil is a good anti-aging product because it has at least 4 antioxidants, which can aid in neutralizing free radicals that normally result to skin aging. Many people also use olive oil to protect their skin from harsh sunrays.

Cheap

Another great benefit for olive oil makeup remover is the price. You do not have to spend lots of money. It will save you money if you will use olive oil as makeup remover compared to some cosmetic brands. A 3-liter container of organic extra virgin olive oil will only cost you around $26 and that is a great saving on your pocket!

Olive Oil Only

Extra virgin olive oil is easy to find since it is likely that you have some in the kitchen. If you do not have any olive oil in the cupboard, you can buy a large bottle of olive oil in the grocery. 

Ingredients:

Extra virgin olive oil, cotton ball or pad, lukewarm water and clean towel

Steps:

• Dab the cotton ball or pad with olive oil and apply it to the face or eyelids that have makeup.

• Gently rub the skin with the cotton ball or pad until the makeup is removed.
  

• Rinse your face with lukewarm water to remove any oil residue and dab your face with a clean towel.

Olive Oil and Castor Oil

Depending on the type of your skin, you can use a different ratio of olive oil and castor oil. Castor oil contains antibacterial properties, which is also good for cleansing the skin. 

Ingredients:

½ cup of castor oil, ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil, cotton ball or pad, lukewarm water and clean towel

Steps:

• Mix ½ cup of castor oil and ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil. Combine the oils in a glass and cover it with a lid.

• Apply a small amount of oil on the face or eyelids with cotton ball or pad.

• Massage the skin for at least 1 minute.

• Soak the towel in lukewarm water and remove excess water.

• Place the towel on the face for at least 1 minute. Then gently remove any left oil residue in the face with the towel.

Tips and Cautions

• These ingredients are recommended for normal skin. 

• If you have dry skin, use 1:3 ratio of castor oil to extra virgin olive oil to remove your makeup. 

• Olive oil can leave a greasy residue on the skin. If your skin and eyelids are oily, you can observe  that using olive oil regularly can leave the skin greasy and may even lead to more breakouts. 

• Olive oil makeup remover is not effective in all kinds of makeup. It can be harder to remove waterproof mascara and eyeliner using olive oil. In that case, too much tugging can lead to wrinkles and fine lines especially around the eye area.
